Carthago was the capital of the ancient Carthaginian Empire. It's most famous citizen has been Hannibal Barca the Carthaginian general who almost brought the emerging Roman Empire to colapse. The Carthaginian army consisted of a core of Noble cavalry, local spearmen and War elephants. These troops have been supported by their allies and troops of conquered areas: Light numidian cavalry, Slingers from the Balearic islands, Spanish and Gallic warriors.

Hippo Regius was the capital of the Vandal north African kingdom from 429 AD until its destruction in 534 AD. Vandal armies comprised in a majority of fast lance armed heavy cavalry. Also the vanmdals employed a big fleet enabling them to conquer the islands
in the western Mediteranean sea and run fast raids at coastal areas.
Lhasa: (Tibetan culture)
Lhasa was the capital of the Tibetan Empire. The Tibetan Empire was founded around 600 AD and dissolved into tribes around 840 AD. The main troop have been heavily armored cataphract cavalry accompanied by archers and light horse. in the picture below you see

Truso (Prussian Culture 1000 AD)
Truso has been the oldest city of the Prussian tribes at the Baltic sea. Their Army has been composed mostly of axe wielding warriors fighting in the heavily wooded areas of the region.
Vilnius (Lithuanians):
Vilnius was the capital of the LIthuanian empire of the 14th and 15th entury, which conquered the Russian areas after the Mongols left the eastern european steppes. At it's largest extend the Lithuanian empire reached from the baltic sea to the Black Sea.

Xianyang has been the capital of the Qin Chinese kingdom between 360 BC and 221 BC when China was united under the Quin KIng Zheng as the first emperor of China.
