Steel Corsairs [SCRSR]

     Once, in the ages before this one, the Steel Confessors were one of the most powerful and respected groups in existence. We in the Steel Corsairs were the powerful naval branch of the Brotherhood of Steel, policing the rugged seas and keeping the pirates in check.

    Even as the respect and power of the Steel Confessors waned, our honor did not. Even as we lost contact with many others in the Brotherhood, our ships continued to sail. But one by one, our ships began to sink. Our people fell silent as the pirates surged back, until only a small flotilla remained.

    We did not tarnish our honor by stooping to the level of the pirates. We still fought them as best as we could, but we began to plunder ships just like they once did. But while they murdered crews and sank ships indiscriminately, we only targeted the wealthy and corrupted nobles. Aside from what little we needed to maintain our ships and feed our crews, we gave all the plunder we amassed from the wealthy and corrupt to the poor fisherman of the villages along the coast. The common sailors and soldiers we vowed never to harm. Every ship we took was peaceful, and with each a few men joined the cause.

    By the time the Chancellor-General's messengers found us and told of the call to arms, we were nearing the strength from our hey-day. We left a third of our brave men and women with the fleet to police the pirates, while the rest of us journeyed inland to answer the call. And where our noble history continues from here, only time may tell. We just know that it will be filled with honor, respect, and many noble and chivalrous deeds.
