Dwarf Male Character Portrait

Hi, I’m Rygar. I am a dwarf and I’m digging a hole. In fact, I dug holes my entire young life. So much so, that once I was old enough all I wanted more than anything was to strike out on my own and go on grand adventures that involved no digging whatsoever. And I did just that. When that day finally came I said farewell to my family and clan and struck out on my own and never looked back.

Eons have passed since Illy's creation. Many dominators have ruled in all their glory, but time was their greatest enemy and it defeated their reign. And now a new dominator's reign begins. This new dominator's name was Ligar, a ruthless ruler with a body of a man and a head of a lion, who Rygar vowed to defeat no matter the cost. Rygar even developed a new weapon he was convinced would bring about the end of Ligar called the Diskarmor. Rygar soon realized his sustenance and adventuring depended on digging precious gems to afford to pay for food and supplies. One day, on his way to his favorite diggy hole, Rygar heard a struggle and a shout for help. He peeked through a bush and noticed a beastly Orc stuck in quicksand up to his neck. Rygar sprang into action and tied one end of his rope to his mule and threw the other end to the Orc. After saving the Orc from certain sandy death, Rygar learned his name was Mongo and they became the best of friends. Mongos brawn complimented Rygars brains perfectly. From that day forward, the odd pair was inseparable. Rygar on his mule, Mongo on his Ox. With Mongo by his side, Rygar was now certain Ligar could be defeated.

And so after weeks of working to secure enough food and supplies for the journey, the day finally came when the duo would set out with determination and a plan to vanquish the evil dominator Ligar once and for all. The pair knew the journey would be treacherous, but the reward greater than either could ever imagine. It was a two week trip to the capital; every mile a hard fought struggle. The pair encountered legions of foes loyal to Ligar, day and night, man and beast alike. Together, Rygar and Mongo overcame gangs of Labubu, countless Ghoulies, devil dogs, even one very large and ferocious Domo-kun! Until at last, they arrived at Argus' capital. They hid in the forest just outside the city until the time was right. On the second night, when the clouds and rain concealed their movements, the pair set their plan into motion. Moving silently and quickly through the shadows and alleys of the city, the two met Urlond Bloodaxe, an old clansmen and friend of Rygar's, who was taken and forced to work in the kings guard years ago, at the rear entrance to Ligars' castle.

Urlond played his part and they slipped into the castle undetected. Urlond then led them through the bowels of the castle and the quickest route to Ligar's chamber, pausing a couple times to ensure the way was clear. When they arrived at the dominators chamber, there were two guards posted up outside his door. The three moved quick and quiet to subdue the guards; Mongo snapping ones neck, and Urlond slitting the others throat while Rygar held him, unfortunately that guard let out a gargled shout, which alerted the ferocious three headed Demogorgon sleeping inside Ligar's chamber. From stories told around campfires when they were young, everyone knew a Demogorgon's only weakness was fire. Rygar ordered Mongo to grab the lit torch from the wall behind him and give the Demogorgon hell, 'Urlond and I shall take care of Ligar.' So the trio burst into Ligars chamber, Mongo charged straight for the liege's pet, grabbed the lamp on the nightstand, doused the creature with lamp oil and lit it ablaze; howling and thrashing as it burned alive.

Now, Rygar knew that due to his regenerative ability, the only way to kill Ligar was presumed to be by beheading AND removing the heart. Anyone brave and strong enough to succeed in defeating the dominator assumed rule over the kingdom. Urlond, knife still in hand, lunged at the shocked Ligar. Ligar managed to get a single bolt off with his crossbow kept above his bed but fired a second early striking Urlond in the leg. Urlond pinned Ligar against the wall with a thud and drove his knive into his massive chest once, twice, then ducked and as Ligar fought off Urlond and clutched his chest to remove the knife, Rygar threw his Diskarmor hard and true straight through the dominators neck, decapitating him cleanly and completely. Ligars body crumpled to the floor where Urlond used his knife to cut the still beating heart from his chest before he could regenerate. It was done, the old ruler and his minion lie dead in his chamber. Rygar hastily grabbed Ligar's lion head off the Diskarmor as if it were a serving tray and handed it to Urlond. The agreement was for Urlond to assume reign, as Rygar hadn't the appetite for such a lavish and sedentary lifestyle. Rygar quickly tied Urlonds rope to his while Urlond tied the other end to the corner of the massive four poster bed. Just as Rygar and Mongo slipped out the window and began to repel to the base of the castle, guards burst through the door, swords in hand. Just then, urlond intercepted them holding the dominators heart and head in his hands. The guards, upon seeing this, remembered their oath and instantly lowered their swords and dropped to their knees.

The great and noble king Urlond Bloodaxe and his lineage would go on to rule in peace and prosperity for a millennia. And so the door of peace was opened and peace did again come to Argus. People regained their smiling faces. The warrior who finished his fight returned to Illy. Rygar and his companion Mongo, received unimaginable treasures and glory but only kept what they needed to survive and returned the rest to the people. To this day, the pair continues their quest to deliver justice and free play in Illy for all.
