What is "Faction AI?"

"Faction AI" refers to a new NPC Faction ranking and action system coming to Illyriad very soon. Faction AI will be the engine that allows the computer-controlled in-game factions to behave in a realistic manner, and will give players and alliances the opportnity to interact with them in new and dynamic ways.

Before I became a GM, I helped develop "Faction Play," a 100% player-created, player-led gaming style inside of Illyriad that mimics the Faction AI system. I am no longer managing Faction Play, but there are many players and alliances who are still involved and developing it to interact with Faction AI.

Note: Illyriad Games LTD. does not endorse or control Faction Play in any way, though we always encourage players and alliances to create new content for the game outside of its persistent features and functionality. Interested players and alliances should reach out to the Faction leaders for more information on how to opt-in and get involved with the fun.

Faction Play Slack Server

Whether you're interested in the upcoming Faction AI system and/or player-led Faction Play, the Illyriad Faction Play Slack Server is a great place to be! It's not mandatory for people to join it in order to get involved with the Factions, but it does have several great features for player-led Faction Play, and eventually will interface with the Faction AI system as well.
