Formerly The Old Republic University [TOR-U]

We are the Training and Trade arm of VicToRix

 

 

 

Who we are

• VTXM is a training alliance and also partner with VTX in trade and crafting.
• Through its TOR-U heritage, VTXM  is one of the best established training alliances in Illyriad. We offer a friendly and supportive community alongside a robust curriculum which is designed to help you to fully enjoy your time in Illyriad.
• We encourage players who want to be independent and free while working within a close team.
• We do train players in all areas and aspects of this game including basic military training.
• We encourage our members to join the VicToRix, but we are happy to introduce you to other alliances or support and train you to establish and lead your own alliance in due course.

 

Contact our Leadership

• Requests for membership or questions about membership should be sent to Millia and/or Wild Berry.
• If you have any issue with one of our students, or if you have other diplomatic concerns, please contact Millia.
• Members of VTXM seeking advice should contact any member of the leadership team
• We strictly advise our members to settle outside of the ten square zones of other players, unless they ask for permission. In turn we expect that no player settles within ten squares of our members' cities without contacting that member and the alliance leader before proceeding.
• Our members must respect the sovereign squares of other players and not harvest within 5 squares of their towns. In return we reserve the right of our members to exclusively harvest within five squares of their cities.
• We do not tolerate our members being trolled or bullied. 

 

 

Rules of The Old Republic University  Victorix Mercator

• This is a training alliance. We are not interested in any form of military confrontation but we will defend our members.  With this right of protection comes the responsibility to act and express yourself courteously to other players.

• We will share our knowledge with our students and send you resources.

• We encourage our graduates to join VTX, but you are free to join another alliance. Note that if you decide to settle in a VTX hub, you need to stay a member in VTX or VTXM or you may be asked to leave the area. 

• You should use the chat and mail functions to stay in touch with us.  

• Inactive players may be suspended from the Alliance. Players inactive for 21 days and/or not responding to messages will be removed from the alliance. 

• Troublemakers are not welcome.

 

The History of the Old Republic University - Now styled VicToRix Mercator

The history of the Old Republic University reaches back to the time long before the first Monarch in the Deyrik-Groensen lineage. It is much older than the Old Republic and reaches back to the times of that the Kingdoms of the First Age rose, an age of hope and promise. It was during this times when different races started learning and exchanging knowledge and soon Elves, Dwarfs, Humans and even Orks where studying the secrets of Elgea together.

But it soon became a time of war and the original University building, the University of Knowledge, the largest university that ever existed in Elgea, was destroyed 2483 years after its creation by the orkish war-lord Brubfug who is said to have plundered half of Elgea. After this disaster the University lost most of its power but the Old University never ceased to exist.

It developed to a network of scholars spreading to many of the civilised cities and factions of Illyriad. The Scholars could preserve much of the old knowledge and develop new ideas. One of the most influential is the idea of democracy and republic government. It was thought to be an answer to war and autocracy. But like the Dragonslayer and Scholar Gnorfum, the founder of TOR-University, once said: “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others”.

The idea was implemented in more or less radical ways by various groups within Illyriad. The Old Republic is the largest of such groups that refers to this old heritage. It was TOR members that decided to provide the necessary funds to rebuild the Old University of Knowledge. In order to avoid total destruction, the Old Republic University is created as a network of places all over Elgea but organised centrally in our capital, in the Halls of debate. From here they plan to bring this ideas to the Broken Lands and all four corners of the world.
