A Legacy Forged in Shadows
In the vast and unforgiving world of Illyriad, where alliances crumbled as swiftly as they formed, there rose an alliance whose name would be whispered in awe and fear: The Night Crusaders.
Their origins lay within The Night Squires, an honorable band of warriors-in-training. Led by Myr, the Mistress of Darkness, the Squires sought not mere victory but mastery—refining their skills in the crucible of battle and carving their names into the annals of war.
However, training alone could not fulfill their destiny. As Illyriad fell into chaos, with hugging factions crushing the strong and sprawling guilds devouring the land, a small group saw the truth: the most potent warriors were not the ones who trained forever. They were the ones who fought.
Thus, the Night Crusaders were born.
The Rise of the Crusaders
Under the leadership of Sir Bradley, ~NC~ was small, but it was never weak. Each member was a battle-hardened warrior forged in the fires of countless duels. Unlike the lumbering behemoths of the great guilds, whose numbers ensured victory, ~NC~ relied on precision, coordination, and sheer skill. They became known for striking where least expected, felling enemies many times their size.
They fought like ghosts in the night—silent, swift, and relentless. They emerged not as conquerors but as legends. They did not fight for castles or land. Instead, they hunted. Their small squads dismantled siege lines, assassinated enemy commanders, and disrupted entire war efforts with only a handful of warriors.
The name Night Crusaders became a whispered terror among the great factions.
The End of the Crusade
After 25 bloody battles, the banners were lowered. The swords, once sharp and swift, now rest in their scabbards. The Night Crusaders, who once walked the battlefields as whispers in the dark, laid down their arms and faded back into the night—having earned their rest.
Their legacy lingers in the echoes of war, in the tales of those who faced them, and in the memories of those who fought by their side.
Though the world may move on, the shadows remember.
The Night Stirs Once More
After a long and quiet peace, the world of Illyriad has grown complacent. The great wars faded into distant memory, and the names of legendary warriors became myths whispered around flickering campfires.
But the shadows never sleep.
The seers, attuned to the shifting tides of power, have spoken of a new force rising—a darkness not yet named but growing. It moves unseen, weaving its influence like a slow, creeping fog. Where it leads, terror is sure to follow.
And so, from the depths of obscurity, two of the original Crusaders step forth. They have walked in silence long enough. The time has come to gather their brothers and sisters once more.
The Night Crusaders will not return in banners or open war. No, this new strength is the unseen edge of the blade, the silent step in the dark.
A new challenge awaits them, one unlike any before. It is a battle that cannot be fought in daylight nor won with brute force. It must be fought from the shadows, where the Crusaders have always thrived.
So, be warned. Turn on all your lanterns, guard your gates, and watch the night with wary eyes.
Because if you fail…
You may wake to find they have already come and gone—and you never even knew they were there.
The Shadow Blade Rises.
