Gnorfum
Dragon-Slayer and High Master of the Old Republic University Gnorfum
The Dragon Zaách'zz lived in a cave in the mountain Angraschirr in southern Illyriad. The day Gnorfum and two brave companions, the siblings Nrico and and Janosch, arrived at Angraschirr and saw the destruction caused by the dragon, they swore to defeat him. It was a terrible fight. Finally Gnorfum chopped off the head of Zaách'zz with his sharp axe. A stroke many songs of the dwarfs a dedicated to. Gnorfum gained the title Dragon-Slayer, a honour higher even then King among the dwarfs.
As Dragon-Slayer his Axe was worth a tremendous ammount and Gnorfum lost his way to become a mercenary and fought in different wars. After years of fighting for different kings and the excessive abuse of alcohol, Gnorfum got sick of the arrogance and warmongering of the nobility, whether orc, elf, dwarf or man.
During that time he started wandering through the forests with his old friend Janosch and some other elves and he gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and wisdom of the Elves. He decided to found his own city, the city of Angraschirr. Together with Nrico and Janosch he decided to found The Old Republic to finally get rid of the despotism of the nobility.
Some dwarfs say that Gnorfum is a strange dwarf, as he likes the forest and spends too much time with elves and other creatures and even has stopped drinking beer (he only the ridiculous small drinks amount of one litter for breakfast and can only take a maximum of three litters on “special occasions”). However, due to his wisdom and his title Dragon-Slayer, he is generally considered as a very honourable and highly respected Dwarf.
After some time, it became evident, that the word of the Republic must be spread to all of Illyriad. Gnorfum decided to give up the cave of Angraschirr. He decided to move north from Arran and settle into the forest. He split his people and led them to Meilla and Lucerna to settle two outposts of the republic. His people wandering to Lucerna got attacked by undead, released from the Rift and only few survived. Now Gnorfum and his people are committed to bring the word of the republic to Elgea. For that purpose and his wisdom he founded the Old Republic University.
