Beryllium - only occurs naturally in combination with other elements in minerals. Notable gemstones which contain beryllium include emeralds. As a free element it is a steel-gray, strong, lightweight and brittle alkaline earth metal. It's mostly used in alloys to make the alloy harder. The element has always facinated me, and so Berylla seemed an appropriate name for a dwarf queen.
