Eight Hand Crow [eCrow]

Founded By:Angrim Founded On:15JUN12 09:50

Known by different names to different peoples, the Eight Hand Crow is responsible for the sun's passage across the sky. Its three legs represent Earth, Heaven, and mortal kind. Its appearance is thought to portend divine intervention in mortal affairs, and its power is regarded as greater than either the dragon or the phoenix.

"Nothing is unreal as long as you can imagine like a crow." - Munia Khan

Settlement and Harvesting Policy

eCrow observes the de facto "10 square rule", advises its players not to settle within 10 squares of other players without obtaining permission first, and vigorously insists on the same treatment in return. The same consideration is strongly encouraged for harvesting, although it is recommended that you check with the individual for their preferences.

"The crow does not hide its prey, but calls for others to share it; So wealth will be with those of a like disposition." - Thiruvalluvar

History

At its inception, eCrow was intended to be a refuge for casual players, and an extension of the larger Crow Confederation. eCrow remained in the confederation until vCrow's ambitions caused it to form a new confederation (the "Grand Alliance"). It severed ties with crow alliances not offering military support, effectively ending the Crow Confederation.

vCrow won the war, and in the ensuing peace eCrow grew into a strong regional tournament competitor. A flirtation with Broken Lands became a full-fledged colony in Chulbran; we removed our once-distinctive geographical bias for Laoshin/Keshalia/Elijal/Kul-Tar and allowed allies to settle anywhere, drawing many new players into the alliance, expanding the alliance's footprint and creating a real diversity of opinion within the alliance about who and what eCrow should be, what the alliance owes an individual player and what that player owes the alliance.

Inertia will carry an organisation far in the absence of a catalyst, and mostly it was allowed to. In the end, the sudden resignation of our most active rook and attacks by Loki and TA2IN provoked an identity crisis that led to the dissolution of the alliance, until Sa'Belle's return to Illyriad.

Now, eCrow is re-establishing itself as a presence across the map, although still with a focus on Laoshin, with the aim of developing into an alliance where members can explore everything Illyriad has to offer. eCrow is also an official faction play alliance, and you can read more about that below.

If you have an interest in joining eCrow, send Sa'Belle or Bolism an IGM. All other enquiries or concerns can be sent to any rook or raven.

Faction Play

Empire of the Eight Hand Crow

The empire was founded in eastern Elgea, and now spreads across several regions in Elgea and Broken Lands, under the benevolent rule of its Empress.

The empire welcomes citizens of all races and backgrounds, and looks most favourably on neighbours and allies who are similarly welcoming. Visitors and ambassadors are encouraged to stop by the court and experience the empire's community of adventure and mischief for themselves.

Applications to travel can be submitted to any Rook or Raven.

There are a variety of ways to interact with citizens, and we encourage everyone to check their ranking and plan accordingly.

Some of the ways the empire may choose to engage with friends and enemies include:

  • Trade
  • Military engagement - both offence and defence
  • Diplomatic engagement
  • Offering gifts
  • Recruiting assistance with quests or missions

eCrow members with FvA as part of their rank title have opted into faction play. If you wish to learn more about faction play in general, check out the ELVES profile for a comprehensive guide including links to various resources and an explanation of how the ranking algorithm is calculated.

10 January 2023: After careful consideration, we have decided to support ELVES in their ongoing battle against KELTS and ORCS!, and have therefore declared war. Those who wish to assist are encouraged to contact a Rook or Raven for a travel permit.
