The Realms of the Dwarven Lords

The Dwarven Lords are the largest coalition of dwarven bloodline kingdoms in Illyria, the great alliance of dwarves has very ancient origins and its history is as deep and intricate as a mineshaft. Geographically, the Dwarven Lords gather in what for decades was considered the homeland of the Kingdom, Turalia, and for many years many clans and families of dwarves made their way there, crossing the central lands of the continent to gather to the south. Under the leadership of the Great Lord Belargyle, founder of the Coalition, great and marked borders began to emerge that the Kingdom legitimized as its own and defined as sacred. Many clans of the dwarves then settled in what was, at the origins, a remote and isolated region of the continent whose borders, for the first Dwarven Lords, were limited following the great triangle of mountains to the north of the region, bordering in part with the Arran and Perrigor region.

Over the years more and more dwarf lords gathered under the leadership of the now High King Belargyle, expanding the boundaries of the motherland more and more and giving way to majestic architectural and civilization works that spilled far and wide across the country whole region.

FvA Rules

The Eleven Commandments of the Dwarven Lords

A Dwarven Lord shall:

-1- Honor the Alliance as an extension of kin and clan, and die before you see them done harm or dishonor.

-2- Always represent and personify three core character values: Honor, Integrity, and Justice.

-3- Place the lives of kinsmen above all else. Nothing is more important, a clan without kinsmen is no clan.

-4- Never steal, raid, nor attack Alliance kinsman, bring disputes before the Dwarven High Council.

-5- Not fear death, there is no reason to live if you have no clan, so in war fight to win and to the end.

-6- Take great pride in our race, kin, clan, and Alliance; when one Dwarf is dishonored, all are dishonored.

-7- Humble yourself, but extol abundant praise upon Alliance and kin.

-8- Deliberate with patience, be slow to anger and slower to love.

-9- Be slow to let rise emotion, but when it does let the passion burn inside like a forge.

-10- Defer to ranking elders, a Dwarf's love for kin demands that respect be shown to all Dwarfs of title.

-11- Respect all, to give proper honor to another provides greater honor upon oneself.

Claim of Rights to Land and of Sovereignty:

The Dwarven Lords hereby publicly declares our claims to exclusive land and sovereignty rights surrounding our cities for the purposes of keeping things friendly between us, our neighbors, and other citizens of Elgea and the Broken Lands. As the man said, "Good fences make good neighbors". Accordingly, here are our claims:

1. Exodus, Tenaril, and Settlers - 10 Squares: The Dwarven Lords claim exclusive ownership and rights to all land squares within the same 10 square radius from our cities, that is imposed by the game mechanics, against encroachment by Exodus or Tenaril. Although not prohibited by the game mechanics, we also lay the same claim for purposes of settlers establishing a new settlement or anyone attempting to claim level 5 sovereignty for the purposes of an Exodus to within 10 squares. Any square that lies outside 10.01 squares radius from one of our cities is fair game for all. In special cases, permission to send Settlers to establish a new settlement within 10 squares may be permitted, but only after receipt of IGM written permission from the Lord whose city is within the 10 square radius, subject to Rule-2.

2. Sovereignty Claims - 5 Squares: The first 5 squares in any direction, including the diagonals, from a Dwarven Lord's town or city is the sole and exclusive property of the Lord. This includes the exclusive right to claim sovereignty on any square therein. Further, no requests for permissions to settle or move within 5 squares will be entertained, unless by a member of a Confederated Alliance, and then only with the prior written permission of the Lord. No occupying armies are permitted within these 5 squares. Violators of this rule may be subject to removal by military action without further warning. Claims of sovereignty on any those squares within 6 squares and up to 10 radius from a Lord's city that overlap the same 6 to 10 squares distance from a neighbor's city, are a matter to be settled by mutual agreement of the Lord and the neighbor.

3. Harvest Rights - 5 Squares: Any basic and rare resources occurring on a square within the first 5 squares in any direction, including the diagonals, from a Dwarven Lord's town or city are the sole and exclusive property of the Lord. The Lord may, upon IGM petition and at his sole discretion, grant harvesting rights therein. Otherwise harvesters thereon may be subject to removal by military action without further warning.

4. First Arrivals - The Dwarven Lords adopt the principal of "first arrival wins", especially in Broken Lands with its long distance transit times, but in Elgea also. In any cases where two or more cities arrive by Exodus, Tenaril, or settlement at a new location and land within a 10 square radius of one another then the first arrival, not the first to launch, wins the spot. Arrival times can be proved by system messages in a dispute. Late arrivals shall be expected to relocate as soon as the game mechanics permits or submit to voluntary razing at their discretion.

5. Reciprocity - Our claims are set forth as a matter of common courtesy freely extended to our neighbors. We ask the same courtesy in return. Unlike courtesy however, respect is something that must be earned by our mutual observation of these courtesies. If there are any disputes regarding our claims we would hope to resolve them amicably. We respond well to politeness and etiquette, however to provocation, threats, and demands you may not find us so obliging.

                                                         Slayer's Keep

"I am a Dwarf! My honour is my life and without it I am nothing. I shall become a Slayer. I shall seek redemption in the eyes of my ancestors. I shall become as death to my enemies, until I face he that takes my life and my shame."

Gotrek Gurnisson, swearing upon the Oath of the Slayer

To become a Slayer is to become an engine of mass destruction, a warrior that seeks nothing more in life than an honourable and glorious death that shall expunge the shame that has pushed him upon this path, and to be remembered in the saga's of his people for all time. To first become a Slayer, the Dwarf must make a pilgrimage towards the holy Shrine of Grimnir located within the treacherous peaks of Karak Kadrin, also known as Slayers Keep. There the Dwarf would ritually shave his head save for a solitary crest -- a fearsome plume which they dye bright orange and stiffen with pig grease. The larger the crest, the deadlier the Dwarf. After the ritual, the Dwarf would cut a name upon a pillar, where the names of many other Slayers have been carved over the millennium. With his pilgrimage finished, the Dwarf would march upon the treacherous wilderness and deliberately seek out mighty battles towards fearsome foes and against overwhelming odds .
