The World
The Kingdom of Illyriad exists in an age of high-fantasy. Civilizations of Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Orcs compete
to control resources and territories, sometimes working together or sometimes meeting in a violent clash of armies, battles
or full war declared between alliances.
It is a richly detailed world where snow-capped peaks slope down to the hills, plains and forests below,
punctuated by settlements, ancient ruins and long-forgotten barrows – containing both treasures and terrors
for you to face. Terrain forms an important part of Illyriad. Choose your capital city location wisely,
so you can defend it, leverage natural resources, forge alliances and vanquish foes.
Quests, Resources and Adventures
Wild animals, undead claves and savage monsters roam the land, preying on the unfortunate unless you let your soldiers’
blades practice on them. Quests are scattered throughout the world – choose your adventures or stay within your city walls,
farming and gathering resources from nearby lands.

Persistence:
In MMORPG empire strategy games, the world should carry on changing, even when you log out.
The servers don’t reset, they carry on so your investment in building cities, armies and battle preparation continues.

Depth:
Your experience should be truly immersive. Illyriad is a sandbox simulation game that keeps things simple and intuitive
where needed but let’s you have as many levels of gameplay and depth as desired.

Player-created:
In a strategy-focused empire-building game, we can meddle with catalysts, but there’s no in-game content that
is as compelling to players as player-created content. Our job is to allow that to happen as seamlessly as possible.

No Pay-to-win:
Games that allow "pay-to-win" are short-term and self-defeating for everyone. Illyriad is free to play and
you can thrive, that way. Or, you can choose to purchase in-game currency for additional benefits.
It is up to you, but nobody can pay-to-win.
