Slaves to Armok [StA]

Armok: God of Blood

Our alliance was established by a group of Dwarf Fortress players. Our god, Armok, demands blood offering (although he is much more awesome than those sparkling vampires). As a consequence, our cows and kittens have voluntarily become regular blood donors.

Based on our observation, carps, our natural predators, would experience spontaneous magma combustion when swimming within the vicinity of The Island of Windseekers. We consider this phenomenon as a sign from Armok that he plans to have a short picnic on the Island some time in the future. Therefore, we have decided to reside on the Island and renamed it: Armokfall.

We have also recognised the potential dangers of the Harpies, which, rumour has it, could detect smelly socks from a vast distance before snatching them at lightning speed. The Harpies are in fact the product of our past experiment to create the ultimate weapon of mass distraction. Our original plan was to combine the genetic make-up of Paris Hilton (Homo herpesicus), taking advantage of her ability to make headlines, with that of spot-bellied eagle owl (Bubo nipalensis), so Paris' tiny prehistoric brain would be enhanced by the owl's wisdom.

While the experiment was successful, leading to the creation of the Harpies, they somehow managed to escape from our lab and would attack every living being in sight (including puppies!). Intending to be responsible for the damage we have done by creating these ferocious creatures, we have placed a few cities on Farra Island, where the lairs of the Harpies are located, to serve as a deterrent against them.

We consider all forms of military, diplomatic, and magical actions against our cities and caravans hostile. However, we understand misunderstandings happen from time to time and we will negotiate a peaceful resolution before committing ourselves into a full-scale war. Membership

Our alliance is split between two branches, The Slaves to Armok and The Rough Riders. The Rough Riders' members were formerly in their own alliance, TRR. TRR moved to territory (Farra Island) the Slaves had previously publically claimed on the Illyriad forums a few weeks before without asking, so in order to avoid a war of annihilation (which the Slaves made sure the Riders knew the Slaves would win) the Slaves offered to allow the Riders to stay where they were until city moves were possible to do at will (instead of only once) in exchange for becoming close allies.

Since then the Slaves have ceded Farra Island to the Riders. After that the Riders requested to enter the Slaves, which was agreed to. After that the leader of the Riders requested to take charge of new players recruited from Illyriad, which was also agreed to, since the Slaves only recruit from the Dwarf Fortress forums.

Exclusive Land Claims Due to the Mystery Surrounding NPC Factions

Slaves to Armok respectfully requests that the Illyriad community at large respect a most unusual position we feel is in our and the community as a whole's best interest to take. This stems not from territorial desires but rather from the lack of information on how Monstrous NPC factions will behave. StA is heavily concentrated on two islands, Windseeker and Farra Isle. Farra Isle is infested with Monstrous harpies who consider themselves enemies with the Windseekers. Windseeker Isle or; as it is also known to our alliance, Armokumid, is home to people appropriately called the Windseekers. The harpies and Windseekers are mortal enemies. Along with this bit of information one of the few things known of the harpies are that they are a monstrous race; a classification shared with the Melders and Sirens. What this means precisely only the future may tell and I look forward to updating this text to reflect new information as it becomes available.

This still effects StA in current times however because we must shape our policy if we are to plan for the future. StA inhabits both Farra Island and Windseeker Island. That means that our Farra Island members could be harrassed or worse by the harpies of Farra. Since we don't have the slightest clue as to how Monstrous races will behave or their relative power or even if they can be influenced StA is going to take some precautions in order to avert future wars. Namely this precaution is that we will exclude other alliances (with EXTREMELY limited exceptions and only then for an excetionally good reason) from settling upon Windseeker Island itself. This is for one reason only: to assist in our hope that we aren't encouraged to fight other alliances or players who would, logically, support the Windseekers. I say this because we have members on Farra Island who will almost be guarenteed to interact with the harpies of Farra. If it's necessary or possible to save them from harrassment from the harpies by oppressing the Windseekers, we will do so. If someone were to feed resources to or otherwise support the Windseekers as alliances or players not in our position would likely do, then that would be trouble at that point.

Thus we consider claiming Windseeker Island as taking the burden of guarding this most dangerous of relatively small islands, our burden alone; as to invite anyone else to co-inhabit it would be to invite a future conflict if things were to develop that way.

If someone were to move to Windseeker accidently without prior knowledge they will be asked to join StA. If this is not an option then they will be requested to exodus away and any resource support necessarry will be given to them. If we don't happen to notice a settlement for a while due to our peaceful non-paranoid and non-island-scanning nature and that settlement becomes a nice little town, we will offer a more than fair payment of gold to exodus away.
